The desire to be successful is important to most of us but the fact is
we're living in really trying and hard times and matters don't seem to
be getting any easier or the way we want them to be. While Several are
losing their jobs, their homes, their wellness and occasionally even
their sanity. Concern, depression and anxiety seem to have become a way
of life for way too many individuals.
While the world is getting crazier everyday, it is important that we
digest each problem by facing it with the right attitude. For instance,
Who would have thought that the rude interruption of Isaac Newton’s
sleep by an apple from a tree hitting his head would lead to the
all-time discovery of the gravity principle, which today is widely used
in almost every technological concept?
In his book, “Born to Win”, Lewis Timberlake says, “It is not what
happens but how you react to what happens that separates winners from
losers and the successful from the unsuccessful.”
This can’t be said any better, because it is the absolute truth. Every
body has his own share of challenges to deal with every single day, but
those who choose to face it positively usually emerge winners of that
day.
This reminds me of a childhood story of a young little dog that gets
lost in the bush and soon encounters a very hungry looking leopard. The
little dog realizes he's in trouble, but, noticing some fresh bones on
the ground, settles down to chew on them, with his back to the big cat.
As the leopard is about to leap, the little dog smacks his lips and
exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there
are any more around here."
The leopard stops mid-stride, and slinks away into the trees.
"Phew," says the leopard”, that was close - that evil little dog nearly had me”.
A monkey nearby sees everything and thinks he'll win a favor by putting
the stupid leopard straight. The dog sees the monkey go after the
leopard, and guesses he might be up to no good.
Upon hearing the monkey's story the leopard feels angry at being made a
fool, and offers the monkey a ride back to see him exact his revenge.
The little dog sees them approaching and fears the worse. Thinking
quickly, the dog turns his back, pretends not to notice them, and when
the pair are within earshot says aloud, "Now where's that monkey got to?
I sent him ages ago to bring me another leopard..."
The leopard feeling betrayed by the monkey rushes faster into the
nearest bush with a vow never to forgive the monkey for his betrayal.
What ever circumstance or situation you find yourself today, always
remember there lies an opportunity in every challenge; no challenge
comes empty handed without its reward at hand.
Life is a challenging journey studded with problems here and there.
However, facing these challenges using the right mindset is what is
usually required if we are ever going to be successful.
There is more to you than meets the eye. Say therefore to your challenges today " I can.. therefore I will.."
To your success.
